The Education Committee is preparing to offer some educational training opportunities to S.O.A.R. members. We would like to hear from you about your preferences and availability!
Currently we are intending to offer 1 (or 2) training opportunities per year. The two upcoming are options:
1) Equity Educate with Nolan Pike
This is a flexible, comprehensive, and engaging online training from Halifax-based Nolan Pike that comes with a live Q & A session on creating inclusive environments for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. The training is approximately two hours of pre-recorded online video plus the live Q & A to be held at one of our Wednesday evening Education sessions (via Zoom). The training could be completed at a time that is convenient for you (during our one month training window). DETAILS
2) Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the support provided to a person who may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis. This 9-hour course includes one pre-recorded video module and two live 3.5 hour online modules (via Zoom), which will be held at specific dates and times. DETAILS
* both trainings will be offered free of charge to S.O.A.R. members.
