What training is provided for S.O.A.R. Peer Supporters?
Our Peer Supporters are survivors who undergo rigorous screening and are required to successfully complete a 16-session training program led by S.O.A.R. trainers.
The training emphasizes supportive listening skills in areas of:
communication skills
types and effects of abuse
confidentiality
crisis management
responding to flashbacks
post-traumatic stress

Upon acceptance into our Peer Support training program, participants become a member of S.O.A.R., and upon successful completion of training they will become a S.O.A.R. certified peer supporter.
As a member and a peer supporter we offer ongoing support, and occasional education and training opportunities,
Additional Training offered may include Group Facilitation and Train the Trainer which may result in peer supporter members taking a leadership role in group and a possibility to assist in the delivery of peer supporter training.
